I will definitely check out the link, thanks. I'm not a big fan, but definitely curious to hear her without the back-up band. From the little of her I've heard she seems to exibit some fine chops. |

Pesji, thank you for posting that link. I listened to all of the cuts possible, and I liked everything I heard. I have to admit, I've never ever heard any of her music before, that I'm aware of. Chuck |

You're welcome C Bouscaren, if you're not familiar with her work just two words.Ani dtarted out in the Folk clubs circuit as a solo act she is a master in the use of open tunings and her skills on guitar are great but I guess she prefer to favoured the song than just pure showmanship. She's a true performer she hit the strings like crazy with energy and soul, her songs are well written and contain a high dose of social and political point of wiews. If you want to hear her in a band context I highly recommend the Double live CD "So much shouting, So much laughter". Pesji |

Unforuntately her radical social and political views seem to overshadow her playing abilities. |

Quoting Dr Evil "Unfortunately her radical social and political views seem to overshadow her playing abilities."Well I don't want to start any sterile polemics but I would like to understand do you mean that she will play better her guitar if she would concentrate more on her playing or do you just don't agree with her political engagement ? Anyway I respect your point of view ;o) I think she's perfectly in adequation with what she feels so for me honesty is much more important than guitar skills. On the other hand her work is full of masterpiece of acoustic guitar work if you want to take the time to listen. Pesji |

Hi, pesji, pls don't start another 'tell the truth tour' like discussion. I hate the idea of trying to make people from the other side of the political spectrum become Ani listeners or fans. Although I highly appreciate your effort, I simply think it's not worth it. Her success speaks for itself and even here in Germany she filled concert halls, just her, the little tiny girl with the big guitar. She polarises, but that's good, that's how it's gotta be. Me and my whole family, we truly love Ani (including my almost 3yr little one)and the acoustic tour this year was simply unbelievable!! cheers Matthias |

Is the awful sound quality I'm hearing on the samples my crappy computer speakers, or a result of her recording methods? I like Ani, but don't want to shell out money for a cd of this poor sound quality. |

Does anyone know how this solo CD compares to (how it sounds when compared to) "Not a Pretty Girl" or "To the Teeth"? |

Well from what I hear on the website it sounds more rough and less produced, maybe the effect of the analog recording ?to me I like a lot the "Dilate" album and the double live. pesji |

I think first and foremost that he political views are more in the limelight than her guitar playing and I think she prefers it that way too. Much more focus is given to this aspect. And lets just say that I find SOME of her views/lyrics offensive the same as I find Billy Bragg's offensive yet I still have all of his CD's. I keep an open mind but I have a standard. And that has nothing to do with her guitar playing. |
