So there's this whole other school of thought as evidenced by Aspen Pittman's "Fathead" and "Fatfinger" which holds that peghead weight can help sustain and evenness of response...

Personally, I like a rigid neck with moderate weight in the peghead. I think it helps drive more energy into the top. But that's just my own opinion...

I'm with you on that one Rick. It concerns me that the terms "light as a feather" often seem to be synonymous with quality, regardless of the sound. But then, that is just my own hang-up

Did you come to any conclusion on these yet, Rick?

Is this why you use carbon fiber and the pakkawood f/b? Stiffness as well as the strength to support a floating fingerboard tongue?

Matt, yes, that's exactly why I do this. The less energy that is wasted in the neck, the more there is available to drive the top. So by making the neck rigid and the fingerboard more reflective, I think there's more energy getting turned into acoustic SPL. I do know these guitars project very well, and I think this is one of the things making them do that. It's certainly not the only valid approach, but it's what I'm exploring at this time.

I'll have a quickie review on the tuners in a couple of days. I'm stringing up that guitar tomorrow.
