WHAT'S HAPPENING

Museum of Making Music Hosts Exhibition of Inlay Art. Amid all the attention paid to iconic body shapes and headstocks, the work of great inlay artists often goes forgotten. Between June 2 and July 15, The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, California, will showcase the art and craft of inlay artists Larry Robinson, William “Grit” Laskin, Harvey Leach, and Renee Karnes. Each artist is renowned for extraordinary and arresting inlay work, and the exhibit will feature instruments ranging from more traditional work using time-tested materials like mother of pearl and abalone to more adventurous extensions of the form that use modern synthetic media.
