Workshop for Women Still

Girls just want to rock out.

Acoustic Guitar contributor October Crifasi will be teaching rock and roll songwriting workshops for women this Saturday and Sunday, March 22nd and 23rd, at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music.

Crifasi, who runs the Girls Guitar School in Los Angeles, said that keeping the workshops limited to female participants served an important purpose.

"Women rarely get the experience of making music in a group or band with other women--thank God this is changing--and I think it is important to do that at some point one's guitar education," Crifasi said. " It can go a long way in building confidence, especially when at the advanced beginner/intermediate level."
