Master Jazz Guitarist Jim Hall Dead at Age 83

Posted on December 10, 2013 | by Amber von Nagel

Jazz guitarist Jim Hall, known for his highly creative compositions, died in his Manhattan apartment on December 10, 2013. His wife of 48 years, Jane Hall, says he died early in the morning in his sleep after suffering a short illness.

In 2004, Hall became the first modern jazz guitarist to be named a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, the nation's highest honor in jazz music.

We at Acoustic Guitar are sad to hear of Hall's passing and extend our greatest sympathies to his family and friends.

The above video is of an incredible performance he did with his quartet on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1992.
