Are you under 25, interested in free stuff, and able to shred on the guitar? If so, the Lowden Young Guitarist of the Year Competition might just be for you.

In celebration of Lowden Guitars’ 40th anniversary, the Northern Ireland-based-company’s founder George Lowden says he’s staging the competition as a way to “give back” some of what he’s learned over the course of his four-decades in the guitar biz.

“I see this year as a great excuse to support the new generation of guitarists coming through,” said Lowden, in announcing the contest.

The grand-prize winner will receive a hand-built Lowden guitar, a lesson with ace acoustic guitarist Jon Gomm, and a one-year management contract to help them jump-start their career.

The winner will also be flown to Belfast, Northern Ireland to perform at the Lowden 40th anniversary concert.

Runners up will receive a LR Baggs pickup and Venue DI preamp, plus a gold-plated G7th capo. Lowden artists Richard Thompson, Alex de Grassi, and Thomas Leeb are providing additional prizes.

To enter, contestants must be under 25, and upload a video of themselves playing a solo piece to YouTube with the tag #LowdenYoungGuitarist—and then post it to Lowden’s Facebook page. Entries will be accepted from June 1 to August 31.
