Keb' Mo' 'America the Beautiful' Free on July 4

Posted on July 3, 2014

Keb’ Mo’s latest will be available from sea to shining sea this Fourth of July, as the blues guitarist is offering a free download of his newly recorded take on “America the Beautiful.”

Mo’s blues interpretation of the patriotic standard is a follow up to the version he recorded on his 2001 Grammy winning album, Big Wide Grin. That cut earned a lot of airplay for a traditional song—Mo’ later performed it at the White House, and it was featured in the final episode of The West Wing.

The Independence Day-only “FREEdom giveaway” is available at http://www.kebmo.com/atb.

In the above clip, Keb’ Mo’ performs “America the Beautiful,” and talks about how his simple blues take was inspired by the hit 1972 version by Ray Charles.
