John Prine Postpones Shows Due to Illness

Posted on December 2, 2013 | by Amber von Nagel

Esteemed singer-songwriter John Prine will be rescheduling his two December shows due to illness.

His Louisville, KY performances (originally scheduled for December 13 and 14) will now take place on February 28 and March 1. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates. In addition, his Madison, WI, show originally scheduled for November 9 has been scheduled for March 15, and his November 8 Green Bay, WI, show will move to 2014 (date TBA). He will be playing his December 6 show in Greensboro, NC and December 7 show in Charlotte, NC as scheduled.

“There’s nothing I hate more than canceling shows,” says Prine, who wants his fans to know that all dates will be honored. “I've been diagnosed with non-small cell carcinoma of the lung. Doctors here in Nashville have caught it early, and it is operable. They see no reason why I won’t fully recover.”
Prine says, “This is a different form of cancer, unrelated to what I had in 1997.”

We send our best to John and wish him a speedy recovery, and we're happy to hear that North Carolina, Kentucky, and Wisconsin residents can look forward to seeing him live in the coming months.
