Gibson’s Older Brother, Epiphone, Celebrates its 140th Birthday

Posted on September 13, 2013

To mark its 140th anniversary, Epiphone has produced a video to honor its rich heritage and to show how it has maintained its popularity through the years as the “working musician’s guitar.”

Born on the Lower East Side of New York City in 1873, the company founded by Epi Stathopoulo remains as vital today as it was back then, with a long history of innovation and a long line of legendary artists such as the Beatles (the company recently reissued the Texan acoustic guitar model played by Paul McCartney during his stint with the Fab Four), Les Paul, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, the Beach Boys, John Lee Hooker, U2’s the Edge, Paul Simon, and Roy Orbison, to name a few.
