EXCLUSIVE: The Sam Chase Debuts Video for “Hero To Myself”
The Sam Chase has just finished putting together a video for “Hero To Myself” off their latest album, “Will Never Die,” and it premieres today at Acoustic Guitar.
The San Francisco band blends soul-searching poetry and boisterous revelry with a rugged, rootsy sound. The band leader, Sam Chase, describes himself as having “a voice like a Nun on the lam with a mouthful cigarettes and curse words in a lonely bar, drunkenly dancing next to a broken jukebox.” That rather unique charm has earned the band recognition in reader polls in both the Bay Guardian and SF Weekly, and the group enjoys a devoted fan base.
Chase says “Hero To Myself” was written “during a pivotal point in my life and during a morning of fairly intense introspection. I knew that the only way forward would require a big push on my part and the song is mostly about preparing myself with a big lyrical 'deep breath' before the plunge.”
