Avett Brothers to Help Light National Christmas Tree in DC
Avett Nation is about to get a whole lot bigger.
The Avett Brothers will perform Friday night at the 2013 National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Washington, DC. You can watch the concert live starting at 4 p.m. EDT here.
Just a quick jaunt from their home in Concord, North Carolina, the DC gig will put the Avett's on a national stage along with performers such as Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, violinist Joshua Bell, and stand-out newcomers Aberdeen Green.
The Avett's are no strangers to holiday shows, having performed at the 2012 Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. Earlier this week, we had the chance to speak with Joe Kwon, the group's cellist, who said he was looking forward to the tree lighting gig, and was holding off on repairs to his instrument until after it was over.
Here's hoping that the group finds time to play "Morning Song," (video above) which, as far as we're concerned, could pass just fine as a Christmas song.
