Al Gore Invited to Speak at Folk Alliance Conference
To hear former vice president Al Gore tell it, the times they are a'changing.
Gore has been invited to speak at this year's Folk Alliance conference in Kansas City, Missouri, and will give a talk which takes its title from his recent book, "The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change."
Mixing politics and music is, of course, nothing new in the folk world, as the Alliance explained in a press release.
"Folk music has always been the voice of the people, the soundtrack to times of change, and the method of spreading a meaningful message," organizers said in a statement. "For the first time in years, Folk Alliance is including a non-musical presentation at the conference, as there's no better place to discuss positive change than in a gathering of community in the spirit of music."
Graham Nash, whose inclusion at Folk Alliance is beyond debate, is scheduled as keynote speaker of the conference, which takes place February 19-24.
