1984 Larry Sifel OM
Larry Sifel (1948-2006) began making guitars in the early 1980s, after more than ten years of repairing guitars, doing custom abalone and pearl inlay work, and making custom banjo necks.
This orchestra model was Sifel's favorite style. The road warrior pictured here has a Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck. The headstock has an ebony overlay inlaid with a mother-of-pearl A from the Book of Kells. All the bindings are maple, with herringbone purfling on the body, and the fingerboard and bridge are ebony. The pickguard is Carpathian burl elm wood.
