R.E.M. ‘Unplugged’ Sets Available Individually on Vinyl


Alt-rock pioneers R.E.M. were among the rare acts to appear twice on MTV Unplugged—the music network’s live showcase that made going acoustic one of the hottest trends of the ‘90s. Earlier this year, audio from both their 1991 and 2001 shows was released for the first time as a four-LP vinyl set on Record Store Day 2014—a limited edition package that, according to its distributor Rhino Records, “sold out instantly.”

Johnny Winter, 1944 - 2014


Johnny Winter, whose blistering blues licks earned him a place among the pantheon of great rock guitarists, died yesterday in a hotel near Zurich, Switzerland. He was 70.
