Learn to Play "O Come, All Ye Faithful"

Posted by Peter Penhallow

This traditional holiday song comes from many sources. It is most likely a Latin hymn, “Adeste Fideles,” with words written by John Francis Wade in the 1740s. The Latin version has irregular lines and no rhyme.

The song can be accompanied with a simple bass note/strum pattern and first-position chords. Take the changes slowly at first, as the chords move quickly. The example below shows the basic accompaniment pattern; for the full song, please check out the book Christmas Songs for Beginning Guitar.
