Jimmy Page Custom Martin D-28 Sold at Charity Auction

Jimmy Page donated his Martin Birthday Special 2007 acoustic guitar on July 3 as part of the entertainment memorabilia sale at Bonhams Knightsbridge. The custom-made D-28 Marquis guitar sold to the highest bidder for £26,250 (or $40,197 to benefit the charity Action for Brazil’s Children Trust, for which Page is a patron.

The letter accompanying the guitar stated that Page acquired the Martin guitar on November 15, 2006. Page played it at home and at the Roy Harper 70th Birthday Concert at London's Royal Festival Hall on November 5, 2011, where he played the iconic “The Same Old Rock” with Harper, to celebrate the 1971 recording of the album Stormcock, and Harper's 70th birthday.

Serial No.1151442 is emblazoned on the label inside the body and signed by J.R. Warner and C.F. Martin IV. The fingerboard is inlaid with Led Zeppelin's ZOSO logo and a Cancer zodiac symbol as well as the legendary rock guitarist's name. The guitar came with an original hard case, together with a signed letter from Jimmy Page and a color photograph of him playing the guitar.

The guitar was auctioned on behalf of the Action for Brazil's Children Trust.
