2013 Woodstock Invitational Luthiers’ Showcase: What You Need to Know
The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers’ Showcase is an alternative guitar show featuring contemporary, handmade acoustic guitars exhibited by their makers. Since many of these instruments are not available in music stores or other retail environments, the Showcase offers a rare opportunity for the public to see and play the instruments, meet with their makers, discuss custom options and one-of-a kind creations.
This year’s event will take place October 26 and 27, in Woodstock, New York.
Described by fingerstylist and singer Vicki Genfan as being “like a mini-Healdsburg”, the event will feature 57 of the finest contemporary acoustic guitar and stringed instrument makers, tonewood dealers, string and accessories manufacturers, lutherie services, inlay artists, and more. Keep an eye out, too, for a special exhibit of John Monteleone’s Four Seasons archtop guitars, D’Angelicos, and D’Aquistos on loan from Rudy Pensa.
For those looking to work on their skills and techniques, a series of instructional clinics and workshops will also be taking place over the course of the two days, led by established artists including Vicki Genfan, Tony McManus, Al Petteway and Happy Traum to name just a few.
Live music is, of course, also on the schedule, and Vicki Genfan, Tony McManus, and Al Petteway will be performing in the String Sampler Concert alongside Adam Miller, Kinloch Nelson, and The Secret Trio on the Saturday night.
