Howdy all...My name is Jim. I'm in my 50s, and until 2002, I was primarily a wind instrument player and singer. Head & neck cancer took away my ability to do either, so I'm looking for another way to express myself musically.
Played guitar on and off since I was 12, but never got much past the "Campfire Chords" stage. Looking to start over and do it the right way this time - lessons, plenty of practice - the whole shootin' match. I need to become proficient enough to get the music out of my head and out into the air where it belongs.
I have been extremely lucky to have taken part in very diverse and often disparate musical experiences. That said, I haven't yet decided which playing technique to focus on - fingerpicking, flatpicking, etc. Once I have an instrument and a teacher, I'll lean on him/her to help me decide.
I am a lifelong jazz head, and with very few exceptions, there's almost no style of music I don't love.
My Guitars & Gear
PRS SE Angelus Standard (w/ pickup). Did a lot of research before I bought this. It feels good, sounds great and I'm really impressed with the materials and effort PRS put into these. Good bang for my buck for an instrument to start over with.
