Hi, fellow 'Guitars and Gear' group members! We were wondering...Do any of you play a nylon-string guitar? If so, what kind of music do you like to play on it?

I just received my latest guitar by Hondo. It is an Hondo H-634 Classical Guitar with nylon strings. I am glad I have sheet music to played on it. It has a lovely tone and warmth.

I bought my first classical guitar after I got out of the army in '73. I took lessons in college along with music theory, etc.
I still have that guitar- a Levin LG19. Hand made in Sweden. It is always on a stand in my living room.
I also have a Martin Thomas Humphrey Millenial classical, and a Godin Multiac.
I use the Godin often when I do my solo and duo gigs.
-something special about the sound and feel of nylon strings!

I picked up the guitars a few months ago after a 20 year hiatus. I found the steel strings pretty tough on my fingers, and not much fun to play. I bought an old Yamaha G-60A to see if I liked the nylon route. I did, but I didn't like the width of the neck on a classic classical. I bought a Cordoba Orchestra Pro, and I have a new love in my life. I was looking for a Martin, but after playing the Cordoba, and trying a few Martins, I'm sticking with the Cordoba. Their Fusion line is awesome. Sound great, and play like a dream. I've played Ovations for most of my life, now I'm wanting to try an Ovation nylon. Just haven't found the right one, yet...

Paul Reid

started out on a yamaha c40 many moons ago, now have a martinez timberline - cheap and cheerful but nice tone, just restrung with hard tension strings....great community by the way!
